How DWI Lawyers deal with a Suspended License

A good DWI attorney will be able to help you get back your license after it has been suspended as a consequence of your conviction for a DWI violation.

Blood or urine testing are conducted by police officers on those they have arrested for DWI charges. After the blood or urine testing, if it shows that the alcohol levels in your body exceeds the allow limit, then the officer will take your results to the DMV and request for the suspension of your driving license.

The DMV will then notify you about this. It is important that you contact your DWI attorney after receiving the suspension notice so that he can take action and schedule a hearing with the DMV. The reason for this is because the lawyer has to make a request within fifteen days of the suspension notice.

You may experience a situation where you don’t have a temporary license in your possession and you are stopped by a police officer, after you have filed a request for a DMV hearing. The officer should be able to check that out on his computer so that he can release you immediately. If he still writes you a ticket for driving on a suspended license, then you will to bring it to your DWI attorney who can easily take care of it. But, if the officer does not see the hearing request on his computer and arrests you for driving on a suspended license, then you can ask your DWI lawyer to file charges against the DMW for not posting the request.

Prior to the hearing with the DMV, your DWI attorney will invite you for consultation. Your DWI lawyer will go through the police report and determine if you need to be present at the hearing or not. Other issues that the attorney will discuss with you are the different options regarding whether to void the suspension, or to stipulate to the suspension in order to receive a work permit. There are other issues that the attorney will discuss with you on a one-on-one consultation.

Insurance companies should not cancel your insurance coverage until your DWI guilt is established. If you are convicted, then you will not be able to get insurance coverage or they will increase your monthly payment rates.

DWi cases also include driving under the influence of drugs. Today, there are thousands of arrests made of people driving while under the influence of drugs. These charges are serious ones but you can still be defended by good DWI defense criminal attorney who has years of experience in this area of the law.
